BEZ-EAUC MOA SIGNING

Last February 25, 2009, Balamban Enerzone Corp. (BEZ) and East Asia Utilities Corp. (EAUC) inked the power supply contract thru the efforts of Aboitiz Energy Solutions, Inc. (AESI). Present during the signing was East Asia Utilities President & CEO Roger Lim, Plant Manager Noel Fernandez. For Balamban Enerzone Corp., present were GM & AVP Irwin Pagdalian, Finance and Admin Manager Ramny Guatelara. Also present during the signing was AESI GM Aaron Berin.

The increasing demand of Balamban Enerzone Corp. opened an opportunity for AESI to scout for potential power sources since NPC can no longer commit additional power generation in the Visayas region. AESI scouted from (the Cebu-Negros Panay Grid) Panay-Negros-Cebu and ended finding this excess power in Mactan, Cebu at East Asia Utilities Corp.

East Asia Utilities Corp. is a 46MW bunker-fired power plant located at Mactan, Cebu. It has been supplying power to Mactan Export Processing Zone 1 (MEPZ1) for years. The present experienced recession has caused industrial plants mostly semiconductor firms, electronics manufacturers operating in MEPZ1 to either shutdown or reduce their production. While this reduction of power pose a loss of revenue for EAUC, it opened an opportunity for EAUC to supply BEZ with this excess capacity of 10MW.
